Hello, welcome to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Reading these FAQs, you will learn everything you will need to know about the process in Hogwarts Galaxy. If you still don't see an answer to your question, feel
free to owl a house prefect first, before you owl another staff wizard.
Creating a Character
How do I create an RP Character?
Simple, all you need to do is follow the rules for creating a character, go to the application board, make sure your RP description is neat, meaning you have to use good grammar and spelling. if you make a mistake, there is an edit button for you, so try not to double post. Note that without an RP character, you are not allowed to post anything else besides OOC sections.
I don't know how to RP, please help?
Not to worry, if you need RP help, make sure to visit the RP Guide provided. If you still can't RP right after you've read the RP Guide at least 1 or 2 times, don't hesitate to owl your respective admin, we're here to help.
How come my Character application was deleted?
There are many reasons for that. Either you didn't finish your application, or didn't follow the rules. You should have gotten an owl about your application, read it, and see your results. The admins will simply explain to you your mistakes, we will not make fun of your work, no one is perfect.
Why won't anyone respond to my Character Application?
For one thing, most of us staff members are busy and do have lives as well. There are times when we might not be on for a while, still, please do not spam pm to a staff member about your character not being accepted. We will check all applications when we have the time to.
Why do I have to start as a first year?
Well, in life, to be able to ascend, you must start at the basics. This is an example of this situation. If you want to be strong, knowledgeable, you must first go through what everyone has to go through, learning the basics. Here in Hogwarts Galaxy, we tend to keep things as it should be, you do not start off as a 5th year and attend 5th year classes and not know anything of the subject, because you did not take the later year work. So please, do not make a big deal out of it, either way, the answer will be, no you cannot start off as higher class man.
Are we allowed to have Canon Characters?
Nope. This is the year 2007, therefore, Harry, Hermione, nor Ron are at hogwarts, or everyone else that you saw in the movies.
Starting Off
What do I do after I finished my Character Application?
Looks like you're ready to start your journey as a witch or wizard. The first thing you should do is click the shop selection, by your settings, there you will find items you can buy with galleons. You can gain money by posting around, and you might find some on the floor, or by beating an NPC, you never know. Also, remember, you cannot RP with something you don't have.
YOU CAN'T OWN SOMETHING YOU HAVEN'T BOUGHT!

Why does someone delete my post, when I try to buy something?
Either your account has not been added to Gringotts Bank, bankruptcy, or deletion. If your account has not been accepted yet, please, DO NOT bother a staff wizard.
I've finished with all my spendings, so where do I go now? You must go to the train station. It will take a while for the train to arrive, make sure you're at Platform 9¾ for the wait. You don't want to miss your train, right?
RPing in Hogwarts
Where do I get sorted?
The Great Hall of course. It will be in the Entrance Hall board; ground floor.
I was at a lower level floor, and had to get to class, so I immediately clicked my designated class, but then an admin told me to go back where I was, why?
Well, when you RP, you have to act as if you were actually going up the long Hogwarts stairs, you can't just skip around forums, you could easily be told to go back without a warning. Remember, it's an RP game, try to RP as if you were really in Hogwarts. Also, to avoid spamming, you need to make one or more paragraph before you descend or ascend. If you plan to stay where you are, make a new topic, or, post on a similar topic to yours, this way we wont have people spamming the board.
When will class start?
Classes will begin when they are posted, you cannot force them to appear, nor can you bug a teacher to hold a class. All you need to do is be patient.
I was peacefully RPing about myself, reading a Standard Book of spells grade 7th, when I was in 2nd year, why did an admin delete my post?
Here's the thing. You cannot RP with something you don't have, or can't have. Doesn't matter whether its a spell, item, pet, etc. You must RP with only the things you have and can have. No exceptions.
Why doesn't anyone want to be my friend?
For one thing, friendship takes time to develop. It could be your personality that affects people's perspective of who you are. Don't hurt yourself when making friends. Besides, it's an RP game that reflects around a school. If you can make friends at school, you can sure do it here.
When are Quidditch Tryouts?
Be patient. When things are ready, and done, we will announce the tryouts.
How do I pass a year?
If you are a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year student, all you need to do is get good grades. You will automatically pass otherwise, but that doesn't mean you should slack off, you would lower your house scores down, and chances of a future job. For years 5 and 6, you need to pass your finals. Last would be 7th year, which is the hardest. Must pass all classes, exams, and depending on the course you are taking, you will be asked to take a test reflecting on it.
I ran out of supplies and while it was still during the school term, I went to get some more supplies, but someone deleted my post.
You are not allowed to leave campus without permission. 3rd year and up can, but only on weekends with a teacher's note.
I want to tell someone something real quick, but the rules are, no OOC in an RP area.
Well, you can, but you will have to post it at the bottom of your RP, and it has to be in brackets like this: ((Hello)). Please, try to use these seldom. We don't want people using it all the time. It will be annoying and will mess up a RP...we don't want things to look messy, you know.
Organizations
How do I join the Death Eaters (DE) or the Order of the Phoenix (OP)?
These organizations are only given to 6th and 7th year students, adults can also receive that invitation. Students who are below 6th year are rarely invited to the DE or OP, you will need to match the leader's requirement to join.
Can I make my own League?
Certainly, but it would require an admins permission. If this league is non-political, or anything in that matter, there is high chance it will be accepted.
Are we allowed to hold presses, and assemblies?
Of course, but it would have to be out of school, or somewhere secret in school.
How do we make leagues for that matter?
Easy, all you need to do is look for a sub board within the Application board, then fill out the applications, and you will be all set, if it is accepted by the admins.
Can I join the DE or the Order, even if I have my own little clan?
It depends. If your clan is on the side of good, you can join the Order, else, the DE. But that would mean you have to disband from your organization, mainly, if you(re) have/in one. In some cases, you can keep your organization, but it might need to be just a secret. It all depends.
Skill Gaining
How do I level up?
Well, leveling up is easy actually. Winning a duel will get you a level up, adding the number of Experience Point/Exp of your opponents to yours, if your Exp equals your Max Experience Point/Mexp, you will level up. Depending on your RP and how you react to things, will be the gain you receive. For example, if your character is ruthless, you will mostly gain a random number of 2-4 Atk which boosts your EXP Boost by that same number, and the rest 1-2. You don't have to worry about what you will gain, the moderators will decide that, depending how you act, as I explained. You can also level up by fighting creatures.
How do I gain new spells?
You can gain spells during class, every time you do your homework and if a teacher thinks you pretty much get the concept of the spell you are learning, he or she will give you the right, or, ability to use it. Remember, teachers wont teach spells EVERY single time, the max is 3 times a week. You can also learn spells by posting a 7 or more paragraph essay of you reading a selected book that you have, then a moderator will give you a spell that the book may hold, but not all the times, it may depend on how the paragraphs are written.
How do I get a magical ability?
For now, people who create a character file and their description is above average, they will have a chance at creating a magical ability, but it must be accepted by the staff.
Battle System
What is the Battle System?
Good question. Well it's all about your selected stats that you obtain by how good your Character File is. Remember these stats, it will be important to know: HP=Health, which takes damage from a spell. Def=Defense, example, if an attack is 50 and def is 25, it would be 50-25=25 HP taken away, if the damage comes out to be below 0 or 0, the damage will be 1. Agi=Agility, if your agility is higher than a spell speed, you can easily dodge it depending on your dodge rate. DR=Dodge Rate, which is the chance you have to dodge something. MP=Magic Points, watch these points carefully, because they determine how many times you can use a spell, or how many points you need to use a spell. Atk=Attack Power, for an offensive spell, this will decide it's damage, minus a spells energy point (which is EP) if the spell has an energy point.
Can we use pets in battle, and do they have the same stats too?
Of course, but not all stats that you have they have, and most have different effects. All magical creatures except Werewolves have MP, and it has the same effect, but they don't have spells, but special magical attacks. Atk is the same too. They also have the Strength which is Str, determines their normal attack, like a human would do a punch attack. That's probably it.
So how does the battle system work?
Well, the person with the highest Agility goes first. If both Agility are the same, one with the most dodge rate goes then, if both are the same, then there will be a muggle's game of Rock, Paper, Scissors by PM. You must create a one paragraph or more RP, and if you casted a spell, you write down below your RP the spell and it's effect, for example, Stupefy: A long range stunning spell that may do damage to the opposing being. Speed=20/Energy Point=10/Subtracted MP=10. Make sure you use the [-B-] [-/B-] code for the spell name, as I showed you. Then the other person would react, if his or her agility is higher than the attack speed and he or she has enough dodge rate, he or she would easily dodge it. To tell whether you have enough dodge rate, the narrator, which is the moderator, will post it in his RP below his paragraph, also with some additional information of your surroundings. Also, just to let you know, since this is turn based, you'll have to wait for a moderator to post before you, or whoever was first, to post. Note that you will be moderated every time you duel, so don't try to cheat, it wont help you, you will just get your duel topic deleted.
Notice: Because the site is still young, you may notice that not everything has been added yet. Well all you need to do is wait, and don't forget to recheck the FAQs and Rules, because it will be updated as new stuff are added.
